Historic first for the new cohort of farmers in SA

This week, a momentous gathering took place in Sandton, South Africa, as nearly 300 of the country’s finest young farmers and agri-preneurs convene for the first ever Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba. AgricultSURE and Laeveld Agrochem is proud to be a key supporter of this groundbreaking event, which serves as a vital bridge connecting young agricultural talent with investors, funders, and industry stakeholders.

In just two hours after the event’s kickoff, a palpable sense of anticipation has settled among the attendees. This excitement stems from the collective ambition to witness how the changemakers of South Africa can expedite growth and commercialization for the new generation of farmers. One of the event’s distinguished keynote speakers is Minister Thoko Didiza.

The Mzansi Young Farmers Indaba is powered by an impressive lineup of sponsors, including Laeveld Agrochem, the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC), John Deere, Corteva Agriscience, Pannar, the Beer Association of South Africa, and YehBaby Digital. This summit represents a crucial milestone in fostering the development and prosperity of South Africa’s next generation of farmers, making it a significant moment in the nation’s agricultural landscape.

AgricultSURE on Niche Farmers

AgricultSURE, a South African small-scale farmer developer, joined forces with Laeveld Agrochem for the popular televised Niche Farmers series. Airing since August 2022, the series showcases local up-and-coming farmers using innovative methods for food production. It features diverse farming enterprises, from hydroponic rooftops to greenhouses, highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit of South African farmers.

AgricultSURE and Laeveld Agrochem hope that Niche Farmers will inspire others to start their agri-businesses, promoting a wide range of food production opportunities for universal food security in the country and region. The series also emphasizes the significance of commercial farming and creating jobs in the agricultural industry. AgricultSURE collaborates with small-scale farmers and community gardening projects to implement sustainable projects across the region.
